World of Hyatt is the travel loyalty program for Hyatt, a global hospitality company with over 1,450 hotel properties worldwide. You can join the World of Hyatt program for free to start earning and redeeming World of Hyatt points. Members can also earn elite status, which offers unique benefits to reward their loyalty.

Hyatt has over 1,450 properties across 80 countries worldwide. That includes all the continents except Antarctica.

What are the World of Hyatt brands?

Hyatt Hotel brands include:

  • Luxury: Park Hyatt, Alila, Miraval, Impression by Secrets, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

  • Lifestyle: Andaz, Thompson, The Standard, Dream Hotels, The StandardX, Breathless, jdv by Hyatt, Bunkhouse Hotels, me and all hotels

  • Inclusive: Zoetry, Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, Secrets, Dreams, Hyatt Vivid, Sunscape, Alua

  • Classics: Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Destination by Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Vacation Club, Hyatt

  • Essentials: Caption by Hyatt, Unscripted by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Studios, Hyatt Select, UrCove by Hyatt

World of Hyatt members earn up to 5 base points on eligible Hyatt stays and purchases. Hyatt members with elite status can earn up to a 30% bonus on eligible purchases, in addition to the base earning rate.

For example, an eligible $500 Hyatt stay would earn 2,500 points. With a 30% bonus, that’s an extra 750 points, for a total of 3,250 points. Considering Hyatt points are worth about 1.76 cents per point, that’s about $57 worth of points you could earn in this example.

You can earn Hyatt points directly with the World of Hyatt Credit Card and the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. If you’re a World of Hyatt loyalist, these are excellent hotel credit cards to consider.

If you prefer more flexibility with your rewards points, consider cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points. These points can be transferred to a travel partner, such as World of Hyatt, or redeemed through the Chase Travel℠ portal, giving you more opportunities to redeem your points however you want.

Note that the Bilt Mastercard® also earns points that you can transfer to World of Hyatt.

You can purchase up to 55,000 points per calendar year, starting at a minimum of 2,000 points and increasing in increments of 1,000. It’s typically not worth buying points unless there’s a good deal or you need to top off your points balance for a specific redemption, but it’s always an available option.

It typically costs $26 per 1,000 Hyatt points.

Unlike some travel loyalty programs, World of Hyatt has a generous stance when it comes to sharing points between accounts: it’s free to combine your points with any World of Hyatt member.

The only downside to combining points is that you must complete a point combining request form and email it to combinepoints@hyatt.com to initiate the process. You also have the option to mail your form to World of Hyatt Customer Service; however, emailing is likely a more convenient option.

  • Meetings and events: You can earn up to 50,000 Hyatt points for qualifying event spends at Hyatt Hotels. You can also earn 2 elite night credits toward tier status for every eligible $5,000 (up to $150,000) spent on meetings and events.

  • Experiences: World of Hyatt offers FIND Experiences, where you can book a variety of experiences, including tours, culinary outings, and spa treatments. You earn 10 base points for these bookings, plus 4x bonus points if using the World of Hyatt Credit Card, and up to 30% additional bonus points depending on your World of Hyatt status.

  • Peloton: You can earn bonus points on eligible Peloton purchases, as well as earn points for qualifying Peloton rides and rows taken at participating Hyatt locations.

  • Car rentals: World of Hyatt members can earn 500 Hyatt points and up to 25% off base rates for qualifying Avis rentals at participating Avis locations.

  • Airline partners: World of Hyatt partners with multiple airlines, including American Airlines, United, and Virgin Atlantic, to offer ways for you to earn airline miles on qualifying Hyatt stays.

1. Sign up for a free World of Hyatt account on the Hyatt website or mobile app.

2. Log in to your account on the Hyatt website or app.

3. Enter your destination, number of guests, check-in date, and checkout date, and then select “Find Hotels.” Be sure to select the “Use Points” option if you want to search for award nights.

4. Select your hotel from the available options. You can typically browse a list of properties or use the map function.

5. Select “View Rates” on a hotel to see the rates for different room types. Then choose a room type based on your preferences and availability.

6. Once you’ve selected your room type, fill out any required information and book your stay. You typically have to attach a credit card to the reservation for incidental charges, even if booking an award night.

You’re almost guaranteed a good deal when award nights only cost 3,500 points at Category 1 Hyatt hotels on off-peak dates. Let’s check out the Hyatt Place Los Cabos to show what we mean.

In this example, you can pay $115.92 or 3,500 for a night. If you divide $115.92 by 3,500, you get a redemption value of approximately 3.3 cents per point, which is significantly higher than the average value of Hyatt points.

If you’re looking to maximize your Hyatt points with high redemption values, consider Hyatt properties that typically charge high cash prices. That means checking out luxury hotels, like thePark Hyatt Paris-Vendôme.

This one-night stay would cost $1,645.52 or 40,000 points. That gives you a redemption value of about 4.11 cents per point.

  • Families: We’ve had a lot of luck using the World of Hyatt program to travel the world as a family. Hyatt House and Hyatt Place are among the best Hyatt brands for families, especially in the U.S., as they offer spacious rooms for everyone and provide complimentary breakfast. Even better, you don’t need elite status for those two benefits.

  • Chase cardholders: Being able to earn Chase points and transfer those directly to your World of Hyatt account has been a game changer for us when searching for places to stay on trips. We use our Chase cards frequently, so it makes sense for us to redeem the points toward Hyatt stays.

  • Bilt cardholders: The Bilt Mastercard offers unique ways to earn valuable points on rent without incurring transaction fees. Similar to Chase, you can transfer your Bilt points to various travel partners, including World of Hyatt.

  • Flexible travelers: One of our favorite parts of the World of Hyatt program is that it’s not a purely dynamic pricing system. Hyatt has different award prices for off-peak, standard, and peak nights, which means you can pay fewer points if you book off-peak nights, which start at a mere 3,500 points per night. If you have the flexibility to choose when you want to travel, you can take advantage of off-peak pricing.

  • Business travelers: With its numerous locations worldwide, Hyatt offers business travelers a wide range of properties to choose from, along with high-quality benefits for loyal customers.

If you’re looking for award night availability at a specific Hyatt property, look for the “Points Calendar” option.

Selecting “Points Calendar” will provide a monthly view of award night prices at that property for the selected month, making it easier to plan your upcoming travel.

Based on our experience, World of Hyatt offers one of the easiest methods for browsing and exploring different hotel properties: the World of Hyatt map feature.

This map, available on the Hyatt website, displays every Hyatt property worldwide. So, you can quickly and easily browse properties by country, city, and region.

You can click on a specific property on the map or scroll in to see a list of properties in an area. You can also filter properties by brands, amenities, award categories, and more.

Filtering can be helpful for various reasons. For example, with this type of control, you can quickly see every Category 1 hotel in Asia, which could help you plan an upcoming trip to China or another country.

While you can earn World of Hyatt points through various means, including using World of Hyatt Credit Cards and staying at Hyatt hotels, a more straightforward method for some will be to transfer points from a travel partner, such as Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt.

The World of Hyatt program gifts its members with Milestone Rewards starting at 20 nights stayed in a calendar year. These are rewards you get to choose or automatically receive whenever you hit the required milestones each year. Here are some examples of valuable Milestone Rewards:

  • Free Night Award: Enjoy a free night at a participating Hyatt hotel. Note that Free Night Awards typically have Category stipulations. For example, a Category 1-4 Free Night Award only works at participating Category 1-4 Hyatt hotels.

  • Suite Upgrade Award: Treat yourself or someone else to a confirmed upgrade to a standard suite for stays of up to seven nights.

  • Guest of Honor: Gift yourself or someone else a Globalist experience for up to seven nights.

  • 2K Next Stay Award: Earn 2,000 bonus points on your next stay at a Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, Me and All Hotels, Hyatt Studios, Hyatt Select, Unscripted by Hyatt, Caption by Hyatt, or UrCove hotel.

  • Club Access Award: Receive club lounge access at an eligible property with a club lounge.

  • Bonus Points: Receive bonus points to use toward a future free night, suite upgrade, or experience.

Keep in mind that many of these awards have expiration dates, so it’s worth checking that first before selecting an award. You also typically have a certain amount of time to choose your Milestone Rewards; otherwise, you may forfeit your reward.

Consider these options for earning World of Hyatt elite status quicker:

  • Credit cards: The World of Hyatt Credit Card automatically provides cardholders with 5 elite qualifying nights per year as a benefit. You can also earn 2 additional elite qualifying nights, with no limit, for every $5,000 you spend. The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card provides 5 elite qualifying nights for every $10,000 you spend.

  • Free Night Awards: You earn an elite qualifying night even when using Free Night Awards.

  • Guest of Honor: If you gift someone a Guest of Honor award and they use it, you’ll earn an elite qualifying night.

  • Meetings and events: You can earn 2 elite night credits per $5,000 (up to $150,000) spent on meetings and events at Hyatt properties.

  • Status challenge: Both Hyatt and American Airlines have offered fast-track promotions in the past, where you can earn World of Hyatt elite status by meeting less strict requirements than usual.

Hyatt uses semi-dynamic award pricing, which means the pricing for an award night can fluctuate depending on the property, dates, demand, and other factors. Hyatt doesn’t use true dynamic pricing, which means there are limits on how high or low the pricing will go.

For example, a night at a Category 1 Hyatt property typically costs 5,000 points. However, it can start at 3,500 points on off-peak nights and go up to 6,500 points on peak nights.

If you’re flexible, you can save a lot of points by booking Hyatt nights during off-peak periods.

In our opinion, some of the best World of Hyatt elite status benefits include:

  • Free parking: In general, if you’re a Globalist and book an award night, you get free parking for your stay. This has been huge for my family when we’ve stayed in the middle of big cities, where parking costs a premium.

  • Late checkout: In most cases, Globalist members receive a 4 p.m. checkout time. This has been amazing when we’ve wanted to spend a little more time at a destination or if we have a flight later and don’t need to be at the airport until the evening.

  • Room upgrades: Globalists often receive complimentary room upgrades, although this benefit can vary depending on the property, availability, and the staff member working at the front desk. Still, we’ve received free upgrades in the past, including in conjunction with using a Suite Upgrade Award, which has resulted in an even better suite upgrade overall.

  • Free breakfast: Globalist members receive complimentary breakfast at most Hyatt hotels. We love a free breakfast, so we love this benefit.

In your World of Hyatt account, you can check the “My Offers” tab for available offers to earn bonus points or something similar. Please note that you typically need to register for an offer to use it, so it’s advisable to check your account periodically. If you have a My Hyatt Concierge, they may automatically enroll you in every offer, so you don’t have to do it yourself.

Based on our experience, the World of Hyatt customer service team has consistently provided above-average responses and service. Here are some of your options to reach the customer service team:

  • Online chat via the Hyatt website or mobile app

  • Sending a message on Twitter/X

  • Sending a message on Facebook

  • Sending an email directly to a Hyatt property

  • Calling the customer service team at 1-888-344-9288 (U.S. and Canada)

  • Calling the Hyatt Globalist line if you’re a Hyatt Globalist member

  • Calling the My Hyatt Concierge line if you have this elite status benefit

Brand Explorer

World of Hyatt provides its members with a benefit we haven’t seen elsewhere: earn a Free Night Award for every five unique Hyatt brands you experience.

Essentially, you get a Free Night Award for every fifth unique Hyatt brand you stay at. Previous brands you’ve stayed at don’t count.

It’s a fun and valuable perk that Hyatt doesn’t have to provide, but they do anyway.

World of Hyatt points expire after 24 consecutive months with no qualifying activity. Some qualifying activities include:

  • Earning points on eligible stays

  • Redeeming points

  • Gifting an eligible award to another member

  • Converting points into miles or credit with a travel partner

  • Purchasing points

  • Combining points with another World of Hyatt member’s account

  • Having an active Hyatt Credit Card associated with your World of Hyatt account

According to our valuations, World of Hyatt points are typically worth about 1.76 cents per mile. That means:

  • 10,000 Hyatt points = $176

  • 100,000 Hyatt points = $1,760

  • 1,000,000 Hyatt points = $17,600

However, these valuations can vary depending on the redemption. Hyatt employs semi-dynamic pricing, which means that cash and award prices fluctuate somewhat according to dates, demand, and other factors. Because of this pricing model, you can see different redemption values depending on when you want to book and which property you’re looking at.

In some cases, you may get more value when booking award nights at higher category properties because they have higher cash prices, or if you book a stay at a particular property during a holiday, or if there’s a popular event happening.

To calculate the redemption value for any given Hyatt stay, divide the cash price by the number of points needed for the same stay. For example, if a hotel night costs $300 or 17,000 points, you divide $300 by 17,000 and get about 0.0176, or a valuation of 1.76 cents per point.

When checking cash and award night prices to find the redemption value, make sure the property, dates, and room type remain the same so you don’t throw off the calculation.

Yes, it’s free to join the World of Hyatt loyalty program. As a member, you can earn 5x points at most Hyatt hotels and receive discounted member rates.

Hyatt award nights start at 3,500 points per night at Category 1 properties on off-peak dates.

It’s typically cheaper to book through Hyatt because of its Best Rate Guarantee, where Hyatt will match any eligible rate you find and give you an additional 20% off or 5,000 World of Hyatt points. World of Hyatt members can also get discounted rates on their stays.

Many hotels, including some Hyatt Place properties, charge a $50 daily incidental fee at check-in to cover potential incidental charges, such as in-room dining or on-property purchases. Unused portions of the fee are released upon checkout.

Hyatt Globalists receive a complimentary full daily breakfast for up to two adults and two children at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts without a club lounge. If a property has a club lounge, Hyatt Globalists and applicable registered guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast daily in the lounge. At some locations, the lounge may also serve evening hors d’oeuvres.
