Binghamton University hosts a sold‑out event focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence in health care.
The program, “Using AI to advance nursing and health,” brings together national and international experts to discuss how AI can improve patient care while reducing documentation burdens for nurses.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Max Topaz of Columbia University, a leader in applying AI to nursing data.
The event also features a panel discussion, poster presentations, and practical insights into the benefits and challenges of AI in health care.
Maxim Topaz, an Associate Professor at Columbia University School of Nursing and Data Science, said, “We are improving people’s lives, right? So how are we using this AI In a way that’s effective, useful, and unbiased to improve people’s lives? That’s up for the students today because they know much more than their stock person.”
Mario Ortiz, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at SUNY Binghamton, said, “They have the ability to provide evidence-based care that is cutting edge, that would have to wait years for it to get into practice, that they could do a search and summarize it and synthesize it, bring it into practice the next day at work.”
