SLB to Acquire Reservoir Surveillance Leader RESMAN Energy Technology

SLB (NYSE: SLB) announced it will acquire RESMAN Energy Technology, whose advanced tracer technology enables ultra-precise monitoring of reservoir flow across oil, gas, CO2 storage, and geothermal applications.

The acquisition gives SLB access to RESMAN’s chemical tracer systems, which detect fluids at parts-per-trillion accuracy and allow operators to track water, oil, gas, and CO2 movement within wells without disrupting production. These insights help extend well life, reduce unwanted fluids, and optimize recovery rates.

According to SLB Production Systems president Paul Sims, combining RESMAN’s tracer solutions with SLB’s sampling, digital workflows, and decades of subsurface expertise will give customers “faster, more precise insights” to improve asset performance across both traditional hydrocarbon production and emerging energy transition projects.

RESMAN’s tracers are already integrated with completion hardware but remain vendor-agnostic, giving operators flexibility in their equipment choices. CEO Bonnie Powell said joining SLB will allow RESMAN to expand its global reach and deepen its role in reservoir optimization.

The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to be completed in early 2026.

SLB, which operates in more than 100 countries, has been expanding its portfolio across digital, decarbonization, and new energy systems, alongside its traditional oilfield services business. The deal underscores the industry’s push to integrate advanced monitoring technologies to maximize recovery while supporting energy transition initiatives.
