ADNOC and SLB Launch AI System to Optimize Oil Production Across All Fields

ADNOC has partnered with SLB and Cognite to deploy an AI-powered production optimization platform across its upstream operations, aiming to boost productivity and streamline decision-making as part of its push to become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company.

The announcement, made at ADIPEC 2025 in Abu Dhabi, marks the start of a phased deployment across all 25 of ADNOC’s onshore and offshore oil and gas fields by 2027.

The AiPSO platform, powered by SLB’s Lumi data and AI platform and Cognite Data Fusion, integrates millions of real-time data points from wells and processing facilities. It uses advanced analytics and proprietary machine learning models developed by ADNOC to predict issues, optimize performance, and enhance production capacity.

Currently active at eight ADNOC fields, AiPSO connects office and field operations in real time, enabling engineers to diagnose issues and optimize wells within minutes—tasks that previously took days. The result, according to ADNOC, is a dramatic improvement in workforce productivity and operational efficiency.

“AiPSO will transform the productivity of our upstream operations as we work to become the most AI-enabled energy company,” said Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC’s Upstream CEO. “This industry-leading solution will support our strategy to increase production capacity while significantly enhancing the productivity of our people by freeing them to pursue value-adding opportunities and completing complex tasks up to ten times faster.”

For SLB, the project underscores its strategy to integrate artificial intelligence with its deep domain expertise to drive performance and recovery gains for global energy companies. “The AiPSO platform is an example of SLB’s ambition to combine artificial intelligence and domain expertise to drive improvements in production and recovery,” said SLB CEO Olivier Le Peuch.

The partnership expands on ADNOC’s growing portfolio of digital initiatives, including ENERGYai, an agentic AI solution developed with AIQ, which targets efficiency and sustainability across ADNOC’s value chain. Together, AiPSO and ENERGYai represent a broader effort to position ADNOC as a leader in industrial AI, aligning with the UAE’s national strategy to harness AI for economic growth and energy innovation.

The initiative comes amid a broader global push by oil and gas producers to digitize upstream operations. AI-driven optimization is increasingly being adopted to manage complex field networks, reduce downtime, and extend asset life—key priorities as producers seek to balance energy demand with efficiency and emissions goals.

With this launch, ADNOC is among the first national oil companies to apply AI-driven production optimization across its entire upstream portfolio, setting a new benchmark for large-scale digital transformation in the energy sector.
