For example, say you spent $1,000 at a participating resort with your Marriott Bonvoy Bold credit card. You’d earn the following:

  • The credit card gives you three points per $1 spent, 3,000 points

  • Your Marriott Bonvoy membership gives you 10 points per $1 spent, or 10,000 points

You can redeem your Marriott Bonvoy Bold rewards points in the following ways:

  • Marriott stays: Marriott Bonvoy points can be used to book hotel stays at eligible Marriott Bonvoy resorts and vacation rentals, for room upgrades, or to book a room with a combination of cash and points. Generally, using your Bonvoy points for stays is the most valuable use of your points. A nice perk of the Bonvoy is the “Stay 5 Pay 4” perk — if you book five nights with points, you’ll only have to redeem points for four nights, and the fifth night is complimentary.

  • Transfer to airline programs: You can convert your Marriott Bonvoy points into airline miles with over 30 partner airline programs, including United MileagePlus, Southwest Rapid Rewards and British Airways Executive Club. However, for most of these transfers, 3 Bonvoy points equals just 1 mile, making it a poor value for your rewards.

  • Other travel options: You can also redeem your points to cover the cost of cruises, flights, rental car reservations or experiences like tours booked through Marriott Bonvoy. You can also redeem 25,000 points to cover the $78 application fee cost for .

  • Shop: You can use your points to pay a variety of merchandise or buy gift cards through Marriott’s shopping site.

  • Transfer to retail partners. Marriott also has partnerships with MGM Rewards, Rakuten, and Starbucks where you can transfer your rewards to those loyalty programs.

Point values vary by redemption method, but we found that . You’ll get the most value for your points by using them to book qualifying hotel stays; other redemption methods have lower values.
